In a season marked by outstanding achievements, Los Alamitos High School’s football team proudly claimed five prestigious awards in the Sunset League, solidifying their dominance on the gridiron.

Leading the charge was junior quarterback Alonzo Esparza, who took home the coveted Sunset League MVP. Esparza’s exceptional skills and leadership on the field were instrumental in guiding Los Alamitos to success throughout the season, earning him well-deserved recognition as the league’s most valuable player.

Senior tight end and University of Oklahoma commit, Davon Mitchell, showcased his offensive prowess, earning him the title of Sunset League “Offensive Player of the Year.” Mitchell’s contributions were crucial to the team’s offensive success, and his standout performances garnered him recognition as a key offensive force in the league.

The offensive line received its share of accolades as well, with junior 3-star offensive lineman Kapono Mao earning the title of Sunset League “Offensive Lineman of the Year.” Mao’s skillful blocking and strategic play were integral to the team’s overall offensive strategy.

On the defensive side, rising sophomore Manoah Faupusa made a significant impact, earning the distinction of Sunset League “Defensive Lineman of the Year.” Faupusa’s impressive skills and disruptive presence on the defensive line did not go unnoticed, marking him as a standout in his position.

The accolades continued with senior 4-star defensive back and USC commit Isaiah Rubin, who was named Sunset League “Defensive Back of the Year.” Rubin’s stellar performances in the secondary showcased his talent, contributing to Los Alamitos’ formidable defense.
