In a league game that will be remembered for years to come, the Los Alamitos High School Griffins Football team made a resounding statement as they thrashed the Corona Del Mar SeaKings 62-14. The standout player of the game was undoubtedly Alonzo Esparza, whose astounding performance left spectators in awe. The victory showcased not only the team’s remarkable talents but also the close-knit brotherhood that fuels their success.

Alonzo Esparza, the young phenom, was the star of the show. His stats, which were all recorded before halftime, are nothing short of mind-boggling. Esparza completed 17 of 25 passes for a remarkable 68% completion rate, amassing 346 yards and throwing four touchdowns. But he didn’t stop there; Alonzo also showcased his rushing skills, gaining 36 yards and contributing two touchdowns on the ground, resulting in a jaw-dropping total offense of 382 yards. With a performance like this, it’s no wonder that Alonzo is currently being considered a top prospect for California High School Player of the Week.

Alonzo Esparza wasn’t the only standout player on the field. Hayden Eligon II, with 8 receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown, proved to be an invaluable asset to the team. And, let’s not forget about  Davon Mitchell, who is committed to the University of Oklahoma (OU). Mitchell contributed significantly with 7 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown.

In addition to the outstanding passing game, the Griffins’ running back, Anthony, delivered two impressive touchdowns of his own. Lenny Ibarra added to the touchdown count, capping off a fantastic team performance.

After the game, we caught up with Coach Fenton, who had nothing but praise for his team. He stated, “He was proud of his team and he saw all the hard work his team put in to prepare for Corona Del Mar.” Coach Fenton’s pride in his players was evident in his smile as he spoke about their dedication and relentless preparation.

So, what’s next for the Griffins after such a commanding win? Coach Fenton gave us a glimpse into the team’s mindset, saying, “The next opponent is the HB Oilers,” and he smiled, indicating his team’s readiness to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

But it’s not just the coaches and star players who make the Griffins a remarkable team. We had the privilege of speaking with a few of the players, and they all shared a common sentiment. They emphasized that this was a fantastic team win and that they were proud to play with their brothers on the field. It’s this sense of unity and camaraderie that undoubtedly contributes to the Griffins’ success.

As the Griffins prepare to face the HB Oilers, one thing is certain: their recent victory over the Corona Del Mar SeaKings has set the bar high. Their astounding display of talent and teamwork has not only impressed fans but also solidified their position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of high school football. One can’t help but wonder what other incredible feats this group of young athletes will achieve in the future. With a leader like Coach Fenton and a star like Alonzo Esparza, the sky’s the limit for the Los Alamitos HS Griffins Football team.
